Since 1948, Olsson Family is the oldest family-owned and operated sea salt maker in Australia. Guaranteed that it is perfectly natural, there are no chemical processes involved in manufacturing this product. To make this sea salt, Olsson’s uses a method called “solar evaporation”. Located in areas of low rainfall and high evaporation rates, solar salt is produced by the action of sun and wind on seawater in large ponds. The seawater collected is from two of the world’s most pristine oceans: The Great Barrier Reef (Port Alma, QLD) & The Great Australian Bight (Whyalla, SA). When the seawater evaporates, the salt then crystallizes on the floor, which is then later scooped up, washed in seawater, dried, and packaged. That’s it! Come try it out yourself for less than $20!
